Artistic Director, Choreographer

LEE KYUNG EUN

• Lee won the Newcomer Award in 1996 for her first work, "Shaking Heart," and founded LEE K-DANCE in 2002, where she has been choreographing and experimenting with traditional themes of coexistence of diversity as artistic director. Since the early 2000s, he has been recognized as a next-generation choreographer to watch through media such as the Dong-A Ilbo and KBS, and has swept the prestigious domestic dance awards since 1996, when he debuted as a choreographer. Dance Europe said "Density, authenticity, consistency, clarity" Absolutely!" about Lee's dance, which won the 1st Choreography Prize at the Solo Tanz Theater Festival in Germany. LEE K-DANCE has received continuous support from the Korean government, including three years (2007-2010) as a recipient of the Gyeonggi Cultural Foundation's 'Intensive Development Project for Performing Arts Organizations'. In 2016, the company performed Mind-goblin as a co-production of SIDance with Rencontres chorégraphiques internationales de Seine-Saint-Denis in France, and in 2017, it was the first Korean dance work to be programmed at Dance Base at the Edinburgh fringe, where it received rave reviews. The company won the 2018 Seoul Dance Festival Excellence Award and Choreography Award for Hello, and the 2019 Korean Dance Critics Award for Best Work.

She is also in demand for her work in theater, window drama, and web dramas across genres, and choreographed the opening and closing ceremony for the Pyeongchang Paralympic Games (2018).

In 2024, she was invited to MOTION/MATTER: STREET DANCE FESTIVAL hosted by PERELMAN PERFORMING ARTS CENTER in New York, USA, where she performed BreAking with the National Contemporary Dance Company of Korea.
